Under Her Skin
by Aria Cole
Sienna Taylor walked into Mad Ink looking for a temporary escape. Instead, she found River Madden, the gorgeously talented and impossibly moody owner of the shop. One look in her big, dark eyes makes him desperate to possess her, his need to mark her luscious skin a primal distraction.
One touch of his needle sends electricity rocketing between them, and by the time he's finished leaving his brand on her, he's doing the unthinkable and offering her a job, and possibly losing his sense of sanity.
Finding forever is the last thing on River's mind, but one taste of her sweet innocence has him consumed with claiming her.
She's too innocent, too sweet, too untouchable, and far too good for him. But she has a darkness that claws at her, a crack fracturing her heart that only makes him crave her more.

I needed a book with the word “under” in the title for a challenge. On Goodreads, it had 112 pages, so I was like: cool, a quick one that counts. Uuuuum, Nope. It was 74 pages. But, I’m still trying to test out as many authors as I can so this was a new one. After the intense back and forth of the last book, I was excited for some insta-love.
I’ll have you know, this wasn’t the book to follow a book that was well-written and had a well-developed plot…
Sienna goes into a tattoo parlor to get a tattoo to cover a scar. River is the tattoo artist and he’s a judgy prick but he immediately notices how beautiful she is and she immediately has an effect on him that he isn’t sure if he loves or hates. He tattoos her, gives her a job when the opportunity presents itself. They’re relationship flies 0-100. When her dad hurts her, he saves her and they move in together and have babies.
The characters were fine.
The story was fine.
However, the timeline and clarity in the writing was NOT fine. I was so confused. Things were just happening and I couldn’t tell if time had passed…if River had changed his mind in a split second…if there was something I missed in the past page and a half. The story was fine if I could’ve just followed it. He was all, I don’t know if I like that she makes me feel like this and then suddenly he’s eating her out and I was so confused. And then she’s talking to a guy and suddenly River is punishing her because she’s his and WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN? I’m so confused.
-SPOILERS-
So I wish their pasts hadn’t been tied together. She got the scar when her family was in a car accident where her dad hit a man laying in the middle of the road -a drunk passed out- and it turned out to be River’s dad. Now, I appreciate that River didn’t freak out and push her away because she was young, not driving, and had no fault in the whole event, but I just didn’t like that they shared that.
