Through His Eyes
by Nikki Ash
The moment I saw her walk through the door of Forbidden Ink, I knew she was the one. With her wide hips, thick thighs, and perfect breasts, she’s every man’s wet dream.
Add to that her dark, soulful eyes, pouty lips, and a body covered in gorgeous art, and I knew I needed to make her mine.
She’s a walking contradiction of sass and strength and determination, hidden by insecurity and self-doubt. She’s everything I could ever want or need, but she doesn’t see what I see.
I want to take away her pain. To be the one to make her laugh, to make all her dreams come true. I need to prove to her that I’m not him, that no matter what, I’ll be right there beside her. Loving her.
If only she could see herself through my eyes, she would understand we were made for each other.

So I think this one was recommended during my quest for 12 books from 12 friends, but I’m unsure by who. My bingo card has a place for a book with someone smiling on the cover though, and this one fit that, so 2-in1!
Going into this one, I had read either a review or something that basically told me: this is an insta-love story. The Hero falls for the heroine immediately and never looks back. That alone makes my review different. I’ve been reading so many high-angst stories lately, that I just needed something to calm me down. I needed someone to be steady because my heart was a freaking tangled, anxious wreck.
Quinn is a single mom that was BADLY beaten down emotionally and mentally by her ex-husband. The second Lachlan sees her, he’s in. That sums up this entire story. Lachlan, with the patience of a fucking saint, chips at Quinn until he gets her to fall in love with him. And then, he’s steady and he’s sure and he’s even more patient. I feel like a lot of people get bored with a character this stable, but I don’t. I appreciate the comfort that they give me. Not to mention, Kinsley, the 5-year-old, was enjoyable as can be.
Quinn though…this woman is so damaged, and rightfully so, but that doesn’t mean that it’s fun to read. It could be because I’ve complained about weak women in the last 5-7 books I’ve read, I don’t know, but I’m over it currently. Or maybe it’s that I don’t like how they handle it.
Overall, I enjoyed this story, but I didn’t FEEL it like I wanted to. It was just a bit flat. I definitely felt like I was reading it, not experiencing it. The sex scenes were lackluster in their details and descriptions, so if you’re looking for spice but not SPICE, then this should work, lol. He does have a pierced penis and that’s at least mentioned, lol. I feel like if you’re going through some severe self-doubt, this book may be comforting to you. Quinn is a larger gal and Lachlan is the perfect guy for her.
There’s nothing to really spoil about this book. It’s a clear plot. The only hole that’s left is for someone to shove Shea off a cliff after shoving a sock in her mouth.
-SPOILERS-
1) Olivia, I think that was the secretaries name...I wish I could've punched her in the face.
2) I will admit that the ex-husband dying made this book so much better. It was far less drama in the book and I needed that right now. So thanks for that, author. Quinn deserved that break.
3) I'm pissed I didn't get a Kinsley/Evelyn moment.

“You want me to fuck you right here with your brothers in the other room?” His hand glides up my thigh and under the bottom of my shorts and panties, landing right on the hood of my pussy. “Fine,” he murmurs, leaning over and slamming the door.
