Repeat
by Kylie Scott
When a vicious attack leaves 25-year-old Clementine Johns with no memory, she's forced to start over. Now she has to figure out who she was and why she made the choices she did - which includes leaving the supposed love of her life, tattoo artist Ed Larsen, only a month before.
Ed can hardly believe it when his ex shows up at his tattoo parlor with no memory of their past, asking about the breakup that nearly destroyed him. The last thing he needs is more heartache, but he can't seem to let her go again.
Should they walk away for good, or does their love deserve a repeat performance?

So I enjoyed Pause enough that I went backward and got Repeat.
READ THIS BOOK.
READ THIS BOOK.
READ THIS BOOK.
Goodness. I loved this. Now, I already had the benefit of reading the second first, so I KNEW what happened. Even knowing that, I LOVED this book.
Clem wakes up from an attack and doesn’t remember anything beyond “muscle-memory” type things. She can read and she takes showers alone, but people, pop culture, and places are gone. Someone at a coffee shop asks her about her tattoo (that she doesn’t remember getting) and it takes her to Ed’s shop. He promptly shoves her out the door and she tries to explain vaguely that she doesn’t have her memory. They end up at a bar talking and she realizes that he’s her ex. He realizes that she has zero filter - the demure, closed off girl is gone. With the help of him, her sister, and a book shop owner, Clem tries to figure out who she was and how that girl compares to the girl she wants to be. On top of that, someone is out to get her.
I loved Clem and her candidness. I loved her BLATANT and uncomfortable curiosity. I loved her determination.
I love Ed. I just did. I loved the person that he was when he wasn’t trying to save himself from the woman that shattered his heart.
The wrap-up for this book was too quick. Like I wanted more. I would rad an entire series about these two characters. I LOVED them. I have so many questions. I want to crawl into this story and live it. I want Ed’s book. This book HAD to be from her POV only because she’s the one who lost her memory and if you had Ed’s, you’d have too many answers. But now, I want Ed’s book. I neeeed his book. I need his every feeling and thought and fear and want. Geez.
-SPOILERS-
Clem’s “born again virgin” status was a different take entirely and I enjoyed it. Lol. She was so fucking curious. Her questions about kissing- noses and breathing- had me laughing so hard. They were questions that you have when you’re ten, not when you’re 20-something. But she’s lost all her experience and while you can look up how kissing is supposed to go, nothing is quite as basica as just doing it. LOL. And poor Ed, just trying to keep himself from falling right back into love with his ex. He just loves her. He can’t help it.
Gordon - the dog- was a freaking show stealer so many times. I loved him.
Iris and her sex talk cracked me up.
The scene where she finds him drawing after waking up from her nap may be seared into my brain. I loved it. It was like a fantasy scene in my head and it was soooooo good. I was very confused by her sudden freakout, but at the same time, it made sense. His inability to tell her no was so endearing. The argument the next day about him being too rough was sooooo cute. It was like Twilight but without the pillow biting and Ed actually listened. Because if a girl likes it a bit rough, don’t tell her she’s not allowed to, ya know? Consensual sex means we get to have a say and an opinion…unless we’re consensually giving that up, I suppose. LOL. Whatever.
I’m glad I read Leif’s story first because he was amazing in his story and in this one, he was…not as amazing, lol. I don’t know that I would’ve read it if I had done it in the proper order. I was also scared based on his book that he and Shannon were much more “serious” than they actually were. He was just banging her and had just met her. It makes sense that he didn’t see through her quickly. I was scared this book would make him look bad on that front and I didn’t want it.
Book #1 in the Larsen Brothers series | 310 Pages | Trope Challenge: Secrets & Lies |

Love and life sure can be scary. But not living your best life, not loving as hard as you can…what a terrible waste that would be. And the man standing in front of me is the best of everything.
