Pierce Me

by Simone Sowood

When Eloise walks into my tattoo parlor, she thinks she knows what she’s after - a piercing to help take her where no man ever has.

But I don’t want to help her the way she thinks.

I had a crush on her all the way through grade school.

The last time I saw her was seventh grade, when my life was falling apart.

Now she has the same cute pony tail as always but the rest of her grown up curves make me crazy just looking at her.

Forget the past, this time I won't let her get away.

Pierced or not, she's mine.

Spice Level: 3/6

Story Score: 5/10

Rating: 3/5

This book was listed in a Facebook group for someone requesting tattooed/tattoo artist heroes. The cover fell in line with the January challenge, so into the mist I went. This was a ‘Blast from the Past’. (For me the difference for this from a second chance is that they didn’t date previously – they were just kids.)

I enjoyed the shit out of this concept. I’ve read quite a few tattoo artist books, but this one was different from the rest. Eloise has trouble orgasming. In an effort to better her life, she decides to get her clit pierced. She goes to get it done and she ends up with Gabe as her piercer. Turns out, they went to grade school together. Anyway, Gabe doesn’t think that she necessarily NEEDS the piercing; she’s obviously just been with the wrong guy. Insert the story where they sex it up and fall in love.

Once again – I read this book over a month ago with a lot of books in between – so forgive me if I’m wrong here.

As much as I liked the concept of the storyline, I didn’t like the execution. Eloise was snooty. She would normally never let a man like Gabe touch her (because he’s tattooed?), yet she lets him play with her for what-felt-like a long time the first time she’s in the chair. I get that he’s trying to see if she could get the “best” type of piercing, but he’s not. He’s just seeing how wet he can get her basically. Both of them just lose their damn minds. He’s supposed to be the best in town, but he’s not staying professional. She’s supposed to be a composed, intelligent woman, but that goes out the window.

And I’m sorry, but if the guy gets his fingers all up in there and THEN tells me that we were childhood schoolmates, I’m going to be mad.

I don’t remember a lot about the book, but I did do the ratings at the time I read it, and they are all just middle of the board, so eh. My mini note to myself says that the writing was flat. The spoilers were enough that I won’t continue down this authors book list.

-SPOILERS-

Did they have to get caught EVERY SINGLE TIME they had sex? Jiminy Christmas.

Next, if I’m in the passenger seat, about to get myself off for you while you drive…and you SHOVE A SCREWDRIVER HANDLE inside me…we’re done. I’m out. I’m walking home. That was a truck screwdriver, sir. THAT DOES NOT GO THERE! Trucks and tools are DIRTY! Your entire job revolves around sterilization. What the fuck is wrong with you?

“No, I’m the guy who’ll make your toes curl every time.”
