This is an Audible freebie with subscription book that I chose because it was only like 5ish hours long so I could finish it while I was at work. I’ve never read anything by Penny Reid. I wish I knew how similar to this her other books are.
FMC is a college student (electrical engineering) who tries to go on a blind date but she emails the wrong guy and ends up meeting him, then he points out her mistake, so she runs. Months later, it turns out his the Russian Lit professor and she just LOVES Russian Lit, lol. Anyway, so they’re attracted to each other’s minds as well bodies now. There’s some push/pull and then HEA. Ta-da!
Couple things about this one…
This university does not have a non-fraternization policy. Basically, it says that you have to take precautions to not show bias. Which the MMC does by the time it gets to that.
The FMC in this book is SMART. Like smart-smart and she has a backbone, most of the time. She is also quirky, nerdy, and HILARIOUS!!
The MMC has something “dark” in his past that is family related. Like maybe his dad runs a criminal empire?
He’s 31 and she’s 21.
This book has NO sex in it until the epilogue.
Ok, so I liked the FMC. I was very underwhelmed by the MMC. HOWEVER!!! I listened to this book and it was passive listening at best. Also, the narrator for the man was AWFUL. I mean: so, so bad. I may have LOVED this book if I wasn’t listening to it but for the love of all things good, do not listen to this book.
Also, how dare you put the only spice in the epilogue. That’s cruel and I’m mad about it.
Somebody tell me her other books have spice…

“You infect me, body and soul, with primitive thoughts of claiming and conquering. I do not know who I am when I touch you. I am no longer civilized, I am blood and heat and lust. I barely recognize myself.”
