Just One Chance

Tequila, you failed me.

You left me in a terrible haze, and I can’t find my god damn wallet.

Or my left shoe.

How the hell does one lose their shoe?

I have no f*cking clue.

All I know is that my night started out with one thing in mind…to have a little fun.

The problem with that? I can’t remember a damn thing, except one.

Morgan’s soft and needy moans. It’s a sound I will never forget, and just thinking about it makes my heart race and my pulse quicken. And I want to hear it over and over again…I crave it.

But Morgan’s a mystery. The harder I try, the more she resists. There’s one thing she doesn’t know about me though…I’m not one to give up.

I’ll play her game. I’ll let her think she’s won. But in the end, I will have her.

Because all I need is Just One Chance to prove she’s meant for me…

This was another alphabet challenge book: ‘J’. I had a very entertaining college experience thanks to my friends’ love of alcohol, so the blurb had me smiling. I was hoping the rest of the book would carry the same humor. This one was double the length of the one before it, so I was hoping it had a bit more going for it.

The story is simple: uptight girl goes to college party, takes home a frat boy for a night. He wakes up without any memory of the night hardly but slowly regains pieces and he can’t get her out of his head, so he sets out to win her over. She has an intense homelife with a handicapped brother that she adores so she doesn’t want distractions. Ta-da. Whole plotline. I feel like it should’ve been able to be told in 220 pages.

Morgan was a little too off-putting for me. Maybe I’m just in a funk. I just didn’t like her. She was ‘eh’. Marcus, the best friend, was cringe-y to me. Xavier was part adorable and part irritating. Lol. Then again, frat guys were never my thing and aside from the fraternity house antics, there wasn’t much humor in the book.

Also…this is a book about a one night stand becoming more…and the sex scenes are fade to black. FADE TO BLACK, people! There is one sex scene that has words in it...and they aren’t enough.

Book #1 in the Oh Tequila! series

College

“I may not remember everything from last night, but there is one sound that keeps running through my mind. A soft whimper, a needy moan.” I closed my eyes, trying to keep from making that very sound right then. “A light whisper of someone telling me not to stop,” he said, kissing my jaw. “It keeps playing on repeat in my head. I’d give anything to hear those sounds again.”
