It all started with a sexy selfie.

Texted to the wrong number.

Oops. Not my finest moment — but I have nothing to be ashamed of.

She thought I was no better, and I quote, than the knuckle-dragging douche-bags she was never dating again.

It was a stupid dare from a girl I’d met online, but since she’d given me a fake number, I didn’t feel bad that my interests were suddenly focused elsewhere — on the fiery and sharp-tongued, Peyton that I found myself sparring with over text for the rest of the evening.

The following day, my case of mistaken identity came back to bite me in the banana. When I strolled into the office, I was introduced to Peyton as the new client I needed to win over. The Peyton, in case you're not tracking.

And let’s just say she had my full attention.

Brains? Check.

Beauty? Oh yeah.

And the best part? She hated me on sight.

Dear God, do I love a challenge.

Let the games begin.

This was a quick audiobook, so I hit go while I was at work, hoping to finish in a single shift. (I didn’t make it, but that’s not the book's fault, obviously, lol). This was also my first Kendall Ryan book.

After getting an unsolicited, even if it was hot, dick pic, Peyton tells the sender off and has a bit of an introduction. The next day, she meets him in person at her business meeting. He’s supposed to be helping her market her business to help it grow. They figure it out immediately. They’re attracted to each other. It very quickly turns into a “we shouldn’t be doing this because we need to focus” kind of story. His business partner eventually loses his crap because he thinks Josh is only backing this because he wants Peyton. Josh offers to hand the job over to Brady (the partner) to prove that the account is worth the effort, separate from his interest in Peyton. However, no one tells Peyton this, so she just thinks that he hit it and quit it. Then HEA.

Ok. This one is tough for me.

I think the story was cute. It had a Hallmark with spice feel to it. They liked each other from the get go. There was a meddling grandma. There was an asshole friend and a big misunderstanding. There was a short grovel and then a reunion. All in all, it was cute and it was very quick. I think listening to this one didn’t do it any justice though. I didn’t feel the connection between them, but I think if I had read it, I would’ve. But I’ll never know. Josh starts out kinda prick-ish, but really, they are both enjoyable characters.

-SPOILERS-

I’m fucking furious at Brady. I still have NO IDEA what he flipped out about. NONE. He was insane with his bullshit and I don’t like how the author just made that an entire plot point. It’s not established that he’s jealous of Peyton getting Josh’s time, that he maybe likes Peyton, that the business was in anyway effected by their relationship, that Josh was dropping any balls in the work, nothing. There was NO REASON for him to just be super pissy. And then, he was super shitty to Peyton. Then, when Josh figured it out…he didn’t even get mad enough to claim being mad. Like what? Your “best friend” just crushed your girl and your relationship with her…and you’re what? Mildly upset and confused. Ugh. This whole point alone is why it got a 3. This was so fucking frustrating.
