Hot Cop

by Laurelin Paige, Sierra Simone

You have the right to remain sexy.

Anything you say can and will be used to get you in my bed.

You have the right to use my body to give yourself a delirious, life-changing orgasm.

If you have trouble... don’t worry, I’m a bit of an expert in that department.

There’s nothing ‘thin’ about my blue line, if you catch my drift, and trust me, I know how to put those handcuffs to good use.

Livia Ward wants a baby before she’s thirty. And even though Officer Chase Kelly is exactly the kind of cocky jerk this librarian has sworn off, he is undeniably hot. Both of them think they can give each other what they want—a few nights of fun for Officer Kelly, a no-strings baby for Livia—but this hot cop is about to learn that sex, babies, and love don’t always play by the rules.

Pretty sure this one came off TikTok, but it could’ve been a FB Group recommendation. Either way, my husband chose it from a list of 30 for me to read, so yep.

This book is so much of exactly what the blurb says.

Livia who is (nearly) 30 feels like her life is over. (Midlife crisis, much?) She does not want a relationship because all men leave, but she does want a baby. She meets a hot cop, Chase, who wants to bang her so she proposes that he do so with the intention of giving her a baby. He agrees because, hello sex. They start doing it and develop feelings. They’re way too juvenile to admit it to each other (her more than him) but eventually, something happens that forces them to admit such a thing.

I didn’t like either of these characters for each other. I did like both characters outside of the relationship. He was an idealistic cop. He had morals and goals and ambitions. He was funny and kind to his family. She was a nice person who had an adorable affection for her juvenile coworker. Overall, the story was…what it was. I’m not capable of being unbiased on this one. I really DO NOT have a breeding kink and I really don’t enjoy women who think that having a child will fulfill their lives when they aren’t happy. I dunno. I’m a weird one when it comes to kids in stories. It’s a hard line to make it past for me, so I can’t say this book did a good or bad job because it’s just not my jam.

I also don’t enjoy the playboy hero, which I seem to be getting several of lately anyway. So really: uphill battle here. Anyway, the sex scenes were good, as I’ve come to appreciate from Sierra Simone. She didn’t let me down on this one either. The dirty talk was good. In general, if you like the breeding kink, I think this book is probably going to be a good read for you. If you don’t, probably avoid it.

I’ve read a lot of books sine this one already so I don’t think I have any spoilers. Also, there’s not much to spoil anyway.

“Go on your date, kitten,” I say, fucking her now with deep, brutal thrusts. “I dare you. You go and see if he makes you feel like I make you feel. But you’re going to go with my baby in your belly, and you’re going to go with my cum dripping down your thigh. You’re going to sit across from him sore and sticky and used. You’re going to sit across from him remembering how hard you come for me and only me.”
