Fierce King
by Sadie Kincaid
Today is my wedding day.
In a few breathless moments, I will be Mrs. Alejandro Montoya.
He is the King of L.A, and everything a woman could want. Handsome, powerful, rich, and hotter than hell itself.
But I am not just any woman. I am Alana Carmichael and I’m only here to save my father. I will not bow to any king.
This is no fairy tale. This is my nightmare.
He is fierce and unyielding. I should hate him. But, the way he looks at me makes me feel more alive than I’ve ever felt before, and his touch sets my skin on fire.
And as I uncover the secrets of our pasts, I discover that monsters are not always what they seem. Sometimes, the real monsters look like ordinary men.

This book has some fantastic TikToks made about it. It surprised me how many videos I watched just to click for the title and it be this book. I was so excited. I enjoy mafia stories, even if they are pretty standard.
This story is an arranged marriage/marriage for (business) convenience trope. The characters obviously fall for each other afterward and Alana figures out that maybe her new husband isn’t the worst guy out there.
Where to start with this one…
Okay, first: this book is not a romance so much as erotica. I love sexy scenes in books. I read books for their sexy scenes. I want all the spicy feels and I get downright temperamental when they gloss over them. This book is the culmination of like 740 sexy scenes pieced together with some plot points. And I do mean points. Bullet points, even, because there isn’t many details past them. I will never say that there is too much sex in a book but even I have to admit that this one was just gratuitous fuck scenes. Like 83% of the book. If you’re looking for that, here’s your jam.
However, it was shocking how repetitive the sex scenes were. If Alex told Alana to spread her legs one more time so he could see what he owns…I might’ve emailed the author. Lol. Jiminy crickets. There are a few unique scenes, but really…not enough.
On to characters: as a person, I liked Alana. A lot. She was kind and practical. I understood her willingness to submit and her desire to please. I couldn’t fault her for it. I loved her loving nature. I felt like she had more going on in her brain than a lot of female main characters. Alex, well, he annoyed me. I get so irritated when characters can’t admit they like each other. Just suck it up already. You like each other…enjoy it.
The plotline: well, I think the author had one in mind but she kept getting distracted by Alex’s dick. This isn’t a complete story; there are two books that follow it (one of which isn't’ out yet). It ends on a cliffhanger, but honestly, the story isn’t strong enough for me to feel like I need to dive right into the next one. There are a lot of holes that I’d like filled in, but really, meh.
-SPOILERS-
I’ve said it once, but I have to say it again: I don’t enjoy punishment between main characters, especially when I don’t always feel like the female character is wrong. It’s just the man on a power trip. I’m fine with impact play for the enjoyment of impact play…but I don’t like it used to punish. Further, I hate that punishment is most commonly doled out before there is any trust, affection, or understanding between the characters.
Maybe it’s just me, but if I put myself in danger to help a child, and you want to whip me for it…fine. But we aren’t having sex after. I don’t care if the wires in my brain tell my body to be turned on. I’m not giving you that satisfaction because I wasn’t wrong in the first place. Not to mention, if someone else has hit me…what makes you think it’s okay for you to hit me to punish me for letting them hit me. Stop fucking punishing victims. It’s CLEAR victim shaming and I hate it so much. I get that we could all be smarter about our choices, especially our hero complexes, but shove your self-righteousness up your ass. And these characters all go brain dead and think they have to have sex every time they get wet or their dick gets hard. They throw out every sense of dignity they have.
The first time it happens in this book is because she was wearing panties when he told her not to… He drags her to his study, bends her over the desk and spanks her…a lot. Mind you: this is the first time she’s been punished. He hits her a lot! And I understand her wanting to accept the punishment without reacting and without fighting him over it. She’s in an impossible situation here. But then afterward…you let him fuck you? No thanks. Glad you got your rocks off, buddy, but I hope it was enough to keep you warm tonight, because I’m not. Just ONE TIME I want one of these women to be like, fine, you punished me, now fuck off. Their dynamic isn’t set up for this for me yet and I just didn’t enjoy it.
We’ve also established that I hate a man that says “I know she’s sore and I should be gentle, but I won’t.” Fuck you and the horse you rode in on. You couldn’t even handle having a vagina, asshole.
Maybe I wasn’t in the right headspace to write this review yet. We’ll see if I come back to it with different feelings.

His eyes burned with fire as he looked down at my pink lace panties.
‘Now, these are fucking adorable, princess. It’s a shame I’m going to ruin them,’ he growled before he tore them from me.
‘Hey! They cost me forty dollars.’
‘I’ll buy you some more,’ he smiled against my skin as he wrapped me in his huge arms. ‘I’ll buy you a new pair for every single day of the rest of your life because I love tearing them off you.’
