Dirty Like Me
by Jaine Diamond
A gorgeous rock star. An indecent proposal. How can a girl resist?
Struggling barista Katie Bloom doesn’t even know who Jesse Mayes is until she inadvertently wins the coveted role of sex kitten in his hot new music video.
But by the time she’s in bed with him, she knows his reputation.
Love maker.
Heartbreaker.
Making out with a stranger in front of a camera crew isn’t how Katie imagined herself getting over a broken heart, but when Jesse touches her, sparks fly.
The sex is fake but the chemistry is real, and before long, the steamy video is blazing up the charts.
Then Jesse makes Katie a tantalizing offer: act as his girlfriend for six weeks while he promotes his new album.
The only catch? Their sizzling make-out sessions will be for the cameras only.
Which suits Katie just fine, since she’s not about to trust her heart to rock’s most legendary lover.
Her body, though? Maybe.
As it turns out, pretending to fall in love is incredibly sexy…
And falling in love for real, with a man she promised not to fall for?
Irresistible.

This has been sitting on my KU shelf for a while. Someone recommended the 4th book in the series to me and I thought I might read the first one first, ya know? But I've been dragging my feet. For months. It’s just sat there, taking up a valuable space. A few days ago, someone said to read it, again, so what did I do?
I chose a different book because I still wasn’t drawn to this one. Then I DNF’d that one in the first chapter and finally gave up and started this one.
Uh, y’all. I loved this book. I was SHOCKED how much I enjoyed this book.
The blurb is the plot, so I’m not going to rehash it. It is what it is.
This is the first book in way too damn long that I liked BOTH main characters. I LIKED them. We’ve said a thousand times that I love a good guy with a filthy side and Jesse nailed that for me. (Pun intended?) Nice rockstars are hard to pull off in my opinion because half the drama in a rockstar book comes from the rockstar lifestyle. That was one of the reasons that I had so much trouble with Duet, I think. (It was virtually non-existent.) But this book still created the rockstar life…the touring, the clubs, the videos, the gossip and rumors…and Jesse was still a fucking good guy. It was wonderful for me and my low-angst-loving heart. The fact that he didn’t rage or over-react to almost anything was so, so comforting. Katie was a bit tougher for me at times because she got in her own way a lot, but again, don’t we all? In general, she was likable though. She was relatively normal, even if she was too pretty to be ordinary. I enjoyed the skateboarding, dog-loving, best-friend leaning person she was.
I wanted more defeat for her ex after he was brought so fully into the story. I understand the concept of him not being worth it anymore and that moving on is the best revenge, but couldn’t someone have punished him? Jude? Anyone? I’m a little concerned about the other books in the series. I don’t particularly have any desire to read about Zane or Elle and that makes me a bit said. I don’t like when author’s make me dislike characters in one book and then I have to try to get over that in another book. I am a grudge-holder and most author’s can’t pull it off. I’ve quit so many series because of this and I’m concerned.
This story was more slow burn than I generally read, but I can’t say that it slowed me down at all. There was a point to it. But the sex scenes (that I was forced to wait for) weren’t as…in depth?...as I hoped for. There were a few in the book that were better about it, and there were more that were too glossed over, but overall, I’m happy with it.
-SPOILERS-
Uh, for the record: Jesse having sex with Katie on a car in front of a mob of fans is what got this book a 4, lol. I was way too thrilled about it.

I laughed. “Favorite sexual position?”
“My face. Between your legs.”
