Den of Vipers

by K.A. Knight

Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel—The Vipers.

They run this town and everyone in it. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses.

Yes, sold me.

They own me now.

I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant. These men, they look at me with longing. Their scarred, blood-stained hands holding me tight. They want everything I am, everything I have to give, and won’t stop until they get just that. They can own my body, but they will never have my heart.

The Vipers? I’m going to make them regret the day they took me.

This girl? She bites too.

Is there any question why I chose this book? You can’t go a single scroll without seeing this recommended in my book groups. It’s a RH, but I wanted to save that one, so I used my ‘Criminal/Gang’ trope for it.

Ok, I’m gonna get shit for this one, but I didn’t love it. I didn’t even like it. Check your triggers on this one and know that when they say violence, they mean a lot of violence. Violence isn’t a trigger for me though, I just didn’t enjoy it.

A lot of people complain about Roxy, but honestly, I thought she did alright. She even had me laughing occasionally. I mean, she was abducted as repayment for her father’s debt by four hot guys, of course she’s conflicted about having sex with them. (I thought Ryder was the whiny one.)

A lot of people complain about the plot being non-existent. I dunno. I thought there was one. They’re a gang. They collected on a debt and ended up with Roxy. Other gangs are trying to move into their territory and attack them. They stick Roxy in their penthouse as they try to figure out who’s sabotaging them. Everyone is attracted to each other so sex ensues. They eventually figure out who is after them and they take care of it. Is that not a plot? I’ll admit it isn’t original or exceptional, but it’s there.

You want a relationship-building story? Then don’t pick this one. You want a really fun tattoo scene? You’ll get one somewhere in these 600+ pages.

Man, this story was long.

-SPOILERS-

Ok, so all I have for this book is spoilers. I have a giant issue with random objects up a lady’s bits. I do. It’s my ‘that ruined my story’ thing. And I’ll have you know that they stick at least three things up this woman - and not a one of them is sanitized for that. Just thinking about it now makes me cringe.

Roxy is trying to make the most of a bad situation and joins Diesel in his basement of torture. Mmm…queue the knife and blood play. Not theirs. A victim’s. We’re already playing roulette with diseases here. Then he shoves a knife handle up her vagina, then in her ass…and then! Then! He impales himself on it.

I don’t get all you ladies just being all about this man.

Later, he shoves a gun up there. It’s empty at least. But I own guns. A dirty gun shouldn’t be up there…and after you’ve cleaned it, it still shouldn’t be up there. Then they take turns pulling the trigger against the other’s head. Why? I dunno. I was already annoyed and still cringing.

You want another one? Oh, I got you. Thank you Ryder for this one. They’re doing it. Going at it and it’s not enough. Ya know, what? I think I have the trick. LET’S GRAB THAT WATER BOTTLE! What? Why? Geez.

I can’t even with this one, y'all. You can keep it.

Why Choose?

“Sometimes you don’t need to find a hero, it’s enough to find someone who will stand with you in the dark and not be afraid of blood and death. No, sometimes you don’t need a hero…you need a criminal, a villain.”
