Secrets We Hunt

by Dana Isaly

You can run, but you can’t hide, Little Doe.

Wes is in Greece when he catches a glimpse of wild brown hair in the crowd, sending a thrill down his spine. He’d know those curls anywhere. But she couldn’t be at the wedding of his best friend…right?

And yet, there she is, dancing with the bride, her smile as contagious as ever. It doesn’t take long for the spark between them to flare back to life. But Zoë left for a reason, and she’s worked hard all these years to keep it from him.

Zoë runs, and Wes chases. His primal instincts kicking into overdrive. This is his second chance, and he isn’t going to let her get away this time.

He knows she’s keeping secrets, and he’s determined to hunt them down.

Enjoying ‘Games We Play’ as much as I did, I read this the first day that I knew it existed. The same length as its predecessor, I gave it the same liberties.

Honestly, I have a bit of trouble nailing down a trope for this, but eventually I settled for ‘Second Chance’. Really, I should probably create a ‘Childhood Friends, Adult Lovers’ trope. Nonetheless, we have a brief glimpse at their friendship before (which gives the most obvious foreshadowing) and I feel like knowing that they had a past made this one easier for me. It’s not insta-love, it’s feelings that never died.

Wes was not originally interesting to me. In ‘Games We Play,’ so how much I enjoyed this book surprised me. The plot, while obvious, was filled with moments to make me connect with the characters. Wes showed growth and Zoe gained strength. The sexy scenes were fabulous and this book actually brought forward something I’ve never read before. HOWEVER!! I have leftover questions! I may have got closure on the HEA front, but there are questions! Also, this book was a whole lot like edging. You were brought to the point of climax (of the story, I mean) just to back off of it and start the climb again. It was as frustrating on page as it is in bed, but ultimately worth it.

The author has said that the same voice actor will be doing this audible and I cannot wait to hear his voice saying some of these things.

-SPOILERS-

We all know that when a woman says that they are uncomfortable around someone and that said person gives them creepy looks to take it seriously. I get that teenage boys might not, but I knew where this story was headed from the get-go. Knowing the plot of a story like this gives me anxiety. Lol. I have trouble knowing things that our main characters can’t figure out. Luckily, I only had to wait a few pages because: 89 pages.

I think this author has a thing for pools, lol.

Question linger though: Why did Wes like to fight so much? Was it just because he was heartbroken as a teenager? Does that make a man have to inflict violence every couple of days to blow off steam? Why did Wes lose her parents’ trust?

Sexy times? Uh, I have a thing for reading praise-kink-worthy scenes. I do. I love them. Encouragement and affirmations are like my catnip. I enjoyed the chase scenes and the predator that Wes was portrayed to be. I loved how confident Zoe was and oh, she was. I’m not sure I’ve got the guts to stick my finger in a guy’s ass, suck him off, and then spit his cum back into his own mouth. POINTS FOR CREATIVITY.

Second Chance

“I want to hear my name coming out of her mouth over and over again. I want to feel her cunt pulse around my tongue, my fingers, and my dick. I want to taste her as she screams through every orgasm I give her. I want her to squirt all over my cock. I want her messy and marked and mine.”
